Judge Certification Tests
Please note when purchasing an online test that the email you use to register is the same email where the test will be sent. When you purchase the certification test via the online cart, you will “immediately” receive the test link. If you do NOT, please contact the office right away as there is a technical issue.
A professional member must be at least 18 years old in order to take the judge certification tests. ISI does not allow for professionals under the age of 18 to become a certified judge.
Before you take any test, you should have a copy of the 2022 ISI Handbook along with the updated 2022 Rule Revisions.
2022 Update Test | Printable version (PDF) – All Professional Members who have passed any level of the ISI Judge Certification test prior to August 1, 2022, must take and pass the 2022 Update Test to maintain their current certification level.
The test fee is $25 for either the online or the printable version.
The Update test has 40 questions and a passing score is 32 and above.
Bronze Test – includes questions from Pre-Alpha – Delta, Freestyle 1-3, Bronze Open Freestyle, Couple 1-3, Dance 1-3, Pair 1-3, Stroking, Footwork, Spotlight, Jump and Spin, Group & Team events (not including synchronized team events).
Silver Test – includes questions from Pre-Alpha – Delta, Freestyle 1-5, Bronze & Silver Open Freestyle, Couple 1-5. Dance 1-5, Pair 1-5, Stroking, Footwork, Spotlight, Jump and Spin, Group & Team events (not including synchronized team events).
Gold Test – includes questions from all levels and all group/team events (not including synchronized team events).
If you passed the Bronze / Silver / Gold / exam after August 1, 2022, you are NOT required to take the 2022 Update Test. The current test questions have been updated as of August 1, 2022, to include the 2022 Rule Revisions.
The Bronze, Silver, and Gold tests MUST be taken in order.
The charge is $40 per test for current ISI Professional Members.
Each test has 50 questions and a passing score is 42 and above.
After you begin, you have 3 days to complete the exam. When your exam is submitted, the results are shown immediately on the screen. An e-mail is also sent to you with the results and a link to print your certificate.
Synchronized Team Test – includes questions for Synchronized Skating, Synchronized Formation, and Synchronized Dance along with Synchronized Skating and Formation Compulsory events.

The Synchronized Test has 40 questions and a passing score is 32 and above.
Most answers can be found in the 2022 ISI Handbook along with the 2022 Rule Revision Summary. On the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Synchronized exams, there will be several questions based on comparative judging or actual situations that may arise while judging an event. Sometimes these answers cannot be directly found in the publications mentioned above.
